ExpoMetro Barcelona 2025
A Monumental Fresco in the Heart of Barcelona
Press Release 27 May 2025
From June 16 to 29, 2025, ExpoMetro returns to Barcelona for its 15th edition, The Art Tunnel - a monumental public exhibition in an unexpected location: the 237-meter-long corridor connecting lines L3 and L4 at Passeig de Gràcia metro station, one of the city's busiest transit hubs.
Once dubbed the ‘corridor of death’ for its length and monotony, this passageway has been transformed into a vibrant, immersive art gallery — bursting with color, creativity, and life.
A World Record
For the 2025 edition, ExpoMetro sets a new record: 1,080 participating artists, 88 nationalities represented, and 1,401 individual works united into 36 collective artworks, displayed across 180 meters of wrapped wall in the metro. Paintings, drawings, photographs, digital art, sculpture, mixed media - all disciplines come together in a monumental visual exhibition that invites 400,000 commuters over two weeks to experience an unexpected, free, and accessible artistic journey.

It is a privilege to send a slice of New Zealand street art culture across to ExpoMetro and have it included in this international collection.
When: 16 - 29 June 2025
Where: Passeig de Gràcia Metro Station. Corridor L3-L4.
My photo submission features a striking wall mural in Christchurch, captured a few months ago. Alongside the image, I’ve included a supporting document that reflects on the colour and resilience of this beautiful city and its people, who have been deeply involved in the rebuild since the 2011 earthquakes. Taken near Oxford Terrace, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Huge shout-out to Guy Ellis (aka Dcypher) @ XLStreetMurals for joining with me in sharing my take of his stunning street mural.
About ExpoMetro
ExpoMetro is an artistic initiative launched in 2018 with an ambition: to replace outdoor advertising by art and offer artists from around the world direct exposure in iconic public spaces. The idea is simple but powerful: to create large-scale collaborative art shows in the world's busiest locations - metros, city centers, giant screens - and make art accessible to all.
Twice a year, ExpoMetro takes over a new city with a monumental exhibition, always in iconic public spaces. Each edition brings together hundreds of artists from all disciplines and nationalities around a monumental collective fresco.
In five years, ExpoMetro was launched in Paris, New York, Berlin, London, Miami, Barcelona, Monaco, and Los Angeles, exhibiting more than 6,000 artists from over 90 countries and generating 8.5 million views in public spaces. ExpoMetro continues to open new avenues for contemporary art in a spirit of sharing, accessibility, and innovation.
